Activities & Events

The Alamo Women’s Club is an active organization. And as a member, you can attend any or all of our events and activities throughout the year. Some require advance notice or a reservation, simply because they are so popular. Others may be available on an informal, drop-in basis. Check with our calendar for details on each event.

Learning is a lifelong endeavor. To that end, we engage those speakers who best foster understanding, stimulate new ideas and raise awareness. They may be of national prominence, or a local hero, but their presentations will always be engaging and thought provoking.

If you know Canasta or would like to learn contact Gayle Walker.  Two tables are already formed, but substitutes are welcome.  More information, contact Gayle.

We love our book clubs. Each group offers intelligent and insightful discussion, as well as lots of laughter, lighthearted fun and sometimes, the basis of lifelong friendships. Look for a time and location that works for you.

We live in an amazing area, famous for its scenery, history and beautiful gardens. Do you have some suggestions for future excursions? Let us know!

Creating a community for people with special needs, Friday Nights Out is a monthly gathering of high school & young adult students with special needs. It is a safe place where inclusion and acceptance prevail and where young people can socialize and build lifelong relationships.  For information on this activity please contact Noralyn Giles.

If you’ve never played mahjongg, you’ve missed some serious fun. You don’t have to be an expert. In fact, you can come  and learn the game as you go. We’d be happy to show you the ropes! We meet the second and fourth Thursday of each month (from September through June) from 1 to 4 p.m. in a member's home.  Contact Linda Thompson with questions.
